SULLIVAN TIRE TO CELEBRATE 70^TH ANNIVERSARY APRIL 1

New England institution founded on dead-end street in Rockland, Mass.; now serves motorist, commercial fleets and wholesale customers at more than 127 locations in five states as an employee-owned company.

Norwell, Mass. (March XX, 2025) — A New England institution will soon celebrate a major milestone. April 1 marks the 70^th anniversary of the founding of Sullivan Tire and Auto Service. From humble beginnings, Sullivan Tire has grown over the past seven decades to encompass more than 127 locations across five New England states, which include retail, commercial, distribution facilities, and Liftworks, an automotive lift and shop equipment supplier.

In 1955, Bob Sullivan founded Sullivan Tire on a dead-end street in Rockland, Massachusetts. For 16 years the company worked out of that one location. Everything was done outside in the New England elements. All of Mr. Sullivan’s ten children would work for the company in some capacity over the years. As business grew, Sullivan began to hire non-family members. In 1971 they opened their second location, and slowly began to open locations across Massachusetts and eventually into the neighboring states.  Sullivan Tire’s reputation for providing exceptional customer service at fair prices fueled the growth that continues today.

In 2023 the Sullivan family sold the business to its more than 1,500 employees, making Sullivan Tire one of the largest Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) in the country.

The company will celebrate throughout the year with sale and promotions, in-store events and contests and giveaways to customers and employees.
